ITS Directive

The increasing volume of road transport in the European Union associated with the growth of the European economy and mobility requirements citizens is the primary cause of increasing congestion of road infrastructures and rising energy consumption, as well as a source of environmental and social issues.

Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) are advanced applications which, without including any real intelligent process, are intented to provide innovative services linked to various means of transport and traffic management. Those applications allow different users to be better informed, ensuring safer, more coordinated and smarter use of transport networks.
